   As far as recent releases go, Gold deserves more attention than it gets. As it settles, Sandalwood and Benzoin come through and give it real depth. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Vanilla with Amber, which is where the fragrance really shines. In cooler weather it sits closer to the skin, which I actually prefer here. I wanted to like it more than I did.

   A couple of wears in, Gold has really grown on me. The heart is the best part for me: Vanilla and Amber feel carefully balanced. The base rests on Sandalwood and Benzoin — warm, grounded and easy to live with. It is not the loudest scent I own, but the balance suits it well. I can see this getting a lot of wear in my collection.

The opening is built around Musk and Juniper — bright and immediately recognizable. It lasts through a full workday on me, which is exactly what I want. It is fine, but it does not stand out in my collection.

The first minutes are all about Musk with a hint of Juniper — it grabs attention without being pushy. Projection stays close for the first hour, then becomes a soft, pleasant aura. This has earned a permanent spot in my rotation.
