   My first Dior experience was this one, Sauvage (2015). The opening is built around Calabrian bergamot and Pepper — bright and immediately recognizable. That first spray gives a lovely Calabrian bergamot/Pepper impression that dries down smoothly. After a few hours it becomes a soft skin scent with a lovely trail. I reach for it often and always enjoy the wear.

After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Sichuan Pepper with Lavender, which is where the fragrance really shines. I get about four to six hours before it turns into a skin scent. I reach for it often and always enjoy the wear.

   For a 2015 release, Sauvage deserves more attention than it gets. The first minutes are all about Calabrian bergamot with a hint of Pepper — it grabs attention without being pushy. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Sichuan Pepper with Lavender, which is where the fragrance really shines. Two sprays are enough — it carries well without shouting. This has earned a permanent spot in my rotation.

The very first sniff is crisp Calabrian bergamot with Pepper peeking through, very much my kind of start. It is not the loudest scent I own, but the balance suits it well. Pleasant, though I would not call it essential.
