   I keep reaching for Splendor more than I expected to. The heart is the best part for me: Lily-of-the-Valley and Lily feel carefully balanced. Give it a little time and Lily-of-the-Valley with Lily comes forward — smooth and well done. Performance is consistent: comfortable sillage and several hours of wear on my skin. I reach for it often and always enjoy the wear.

   I picked up Splendor (1998) mostly on a whim, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. The first minutes are all about Hiacynth with a hint of Wisteria — it grabs attention without being pushy. As it settles, Musk and Cedar come through and give it real depth. It wears beautifully in the office; I can still catch it on my scarf at the end of the day. I can see this getting a lot of wear in my collection.

   Everyone keeps talking about Splendor, so I finally gave it a proper test. As it settles, Musk and Cedar come through and give it real depth. The base rests on Musk and Cedar — warm, grounded and easy to live with. It projects politely for a couple of hours, then stays close and cosy. Full-bottle worthy without a doubt.

   My first Elizabeth Arden experience was this one, Splendor (1998). After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Lily-of-the-Valley with Lily, which is where the fragrance really shines. The first minutes are all about Hiacynth with a hint of Wisteria — it grabs attention without being pushy. Two sprays are enough — it carries well without shouting. I enjoy it when I wear it, yet I rarely think of reaching for it.

   I needed a full wearing before I made my mind up about Splendor. The drydown leans on Musk plus Cedar and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. That first spray gives a lovely Hiacynth/Wisteria impression that dries down smoothly. It is not the loudest scent I own, but the balance suits it well. I can see its quality, but it simply is not my style.

   A couple of wears in, Splendor has really grown on me. The opening is built around Hiacynth and Wisteria — bright and immediately recognizable. The very first sniff is crisp Hiacynth with Wisteria peeking through, very much my kind of start. Three sprays last me most of the day without ever becoming cloying. I would happily buy a full bottle.
