   My first Ellis Brooklyn experience was this one, Sci Fi (2017). The first minutes are all about Bitter Orange with a hint of Bergamot — it grabs attention without being pushy. The drydown leans on Vanilla Bean plus Cashmere Wood and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. It lasts through a full workday on me, which is exactly what I want. Well done — recommended if the notes appeal to you.

   I picked up Sci Fi (2017) mostly on a whim, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. Give it a little time and Green Tea with Pink Freesia comes forward — smooth and well done. Right away I get mostly Bitter Orange alongside Bergamot, fresh and very easy to wear. I get about four to six hours before it turns into a skin scent. This one gets my highest praise — beautiful from start to finish.

   I needed a full wearing before I made my mind up about Sci Fi. The drydown leans on Vanilla Bean plus Cashmere Wood and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Green Tea with Pink Freesia, which is where the fragrance really shines. Two sprays are enough — it carries well without shouting. A solid addition for anyone who enjoys this style.

   A couple of wears in, Sci Fi has really grown on me. The very first sniff is crisp Bitter Orange with Bergamot peeking through, very much my kind of start. Right away I get mostly Bitter Orange alongside Bergamot, fresh and very easy to wear. It lasts through a full workday on me, which is exactly what I want. I would happily buy a full bottle.

   Ellis Brooklyn knows how to compose, and Sci Fi (2017) is proof. The base rests on Vanilla Bean and Cashmere Wood — warm, grounded and easy to live with. The very first sniff is crisp Bitter Orange with Bergamot peeking through, very much my kind of start. The trail is there if someone steps close, not across the room. A very likeable composition that is easy to appreciate.

I reach for it often and always enjoy the wear.

The heart is the best part for me: Green Tea and Pink Freesia feel carefully balanced. It is not the loudest scent I own, but the balance suits it well. I can see its quality, but it simply is not my style.
