   Etat Libre d’Orange knows how to compose, and Cologne (2014) is proof. Right away I get mostly Bergamot alongside Blood Orange, fresh and very easy to wear. Give it a little time and Orange Blossom with Jasmine comes forward — smooth and well done. It lasts through a full workday on me, which is exactly what I want. A very likeable composition that is easy to appreciate.

   A couple of wears in, Cologne has really grown on me. As it settles, Musk and Leather come through and give it real depth. The first minutes are all about Bergamot with a hint of Blood Orange — it grabs attention without being pushy. In cooler weather it sits closer to the skin, which I actually prefer here. This one gets my highest praise — beautiful from start to finish.

   I needed a full wearing before I made my mind up about Cologne. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Orange Blossom with Jasmine, which is where the fragrance really shines. The base rests on Musk and Leather — warm, grounded and easy to live with. It performs better in warmer weather — in the heat it opens up nicely. A very likeable composition that is easy to appreciate.

Worth sampling before committing to a bottle.

   A decant of Cologne sat in my box for weeks before I finally wore it. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Orange Blossom with Jasmine, which is where the fragrance really shines. That first spray gives a lovely Bergamot/Blood Orange impression that dries down smoothly. The drydown lingers pleasantly, and I do not need to reapply at lunch. I can see this getting a lot of wear in my collection.
