   Halloween knows how to compose, and Halloween (1997) is proof. The opening is built around Violet and Sea Notes — bright and immediately recognizable. The very first sniff is crisp Violet with Sea Notes peeking through, very much my kind of start. It performs better in warmer weather — in the heat it opens up nicely. A very likeable composition that is easy to appreciate.

The very first sniff is crisp Violet with Sea Notes peeking through, very much my kind of start. It performs better in warmer weather — in the heat it opens up nicely. Sadly this one does not work on my skin.

   I’ve been wearing Halloween on and off for a few weeks now (1997). After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Violet with Magnolia, which is where the fragrance really shines. The heart is the best part for me: Violet and Magnolia feel carefully balanced. After a few hours it becomes a soft skin scent with a lovely trail. Full-bottle worthy without a doubt.

The base rests on Incense and Sandalwood — warm, grounded and easy to live with. The trail is there if someone steps close, not across the room. I can see its quality, but it simply is not my style.

As it settles, Incense and Sandalwood come through and give it real depth. It wears beautifully in the office; I can still catch it on my scarf at the end of the day. This one gets my highest praise — beautiful from start to finish.

The drydown leans on Incense plus Sandalwood and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. The trail is there if someone steps close, not across the room. This has earned a permanent spot in my rotation.
