   I’ve been wearing Jil Sander No. 4 on and off for a few weeks now (1990). The opening is built around Plum and Galbanum — bright and immediately recognizable. The very first sniff is crisp Plum with Galbanum peeking through, very much my kind of start. I get about four to six hours before it turns into a skin scent. I would happily buy a full bottle.

   My first Jil Sander experience was this one, Jil Sander No. 4 (1990). Give it a little time and Tuberose with Carnation comes forward — smooth and well done. As it settles, Civet and Sandalwood come through and give it real depth. It projects politely for a couple of hours, then stays close and cosy. I reach for it often and always enjoy the wear.

   I picked up Jil Sander No. 4 (1990) mostly on a whim, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. That first spray gives a lovely Plum/Galbanum impression that dries down smoothly. The first minutes are all about Plum with a hint of Galbanum — it grabs attention without being pushy. It projects politely for a couple of hours, then stays close and cosy. I reach for it often and always enjoy the wear.

   Everyone keeps talking about Jil Sander No. 4, so I finally gave it a proper test. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Tuberose with Carnation, which is where the fragrance really shines. The very first sniff is crisp Plum with Galbanum peeking through, very much my kind of start. The drydown lingers pleasantly, and I do not need to reapply at lunch. A solid addition for anyone who enjoys this style.

The very first sniff is crisp Plum with Galbanum peeking through, very much my kind of start. In cooler weather it sits closer to the skin, which I actually prefer here. Well done — recommended if the notes appeal to you.

The first minutes are all about Plum with a hint of Galbanum — it grabs attention without being pushy. It is not the loudest scent I own, but the balance suits it well. This has earned a permanent spot in my rotation.

As it settles, Civet and Sandalwood come through and give it real depth. It projects politely for a couple of hours, then stays close and cosy. Sadly this one does not work on my skin.

    I keep reaching for Jil Sander No. 4 more than I expected to. The drydown leans on Civet plus Sandalwood and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. The very first sniff is crisp Plum with Galbanum peeking through, very much my kind of start. Longevity is moderate and the trail is noticeable without being loud. It is fine, but it does not stand out in my collection.
