   My first Lalique experience was this one, L’Insoumis (2016). The drydown leans on Woody Notes plus Haitian Vetiver and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Clary Sage with Lavender, which is where the fragrance really shines. Longevity is moderate and the trail is noticeable without being loud. A very likeable composition that is easy to appreciate.

   A couple of wears in, L’Insoumis has really grown on me. The first minutes are all about Basil with a hint of Rum — it grabs attention without being pushy. Give it a little time and Clary Sage with Lavender comes forward — smooth and well done. Performance is consistent: comfortable sillage and several hours of wear on my skin. I reach for it often and always enjoy the wear.

   I have owned L’Insoumis for a while now and my opinion has only gotten stronger. The heart is the best part for me: Clary Sage and Lavender feel carefully balanced. The very first sniff is crisp Basil with Rum peeking through, very much my kind of start. It lasts through a full workday on me, which is exactly what I want. Full-bottle worthy without a doubt.
