   Maison Crivelli knows how to compose, and Lys Sølaberg (2021) is proof. As it settles, Smoke and Ambroxan come through and give it real depth. The drydown leans on Smoke plus Ambroxan and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. I get about four to six hours before it turns into a skin scent. I wanted to like it more than I did.

   I picked up Lys Sølaberg (2021) mostly on a whim, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. The heart is the best part for me: Dried Fruits and Lily feel carefully balanced. The opening is built around Quince and Wine Lees — bright and immediately recognizable. It performs better in warmer weather — in the heat it opens up nicely. Easily one of my favourite finds this season.

   Everyone keeps talking about Lys Sølaberg, so I finally gave it a proper test. The very first sniff is crisp Quince with Wine Lees peeking through, very much my kind of start. Give it a little time and Dried Fruits with Lily comes forward — smooth and well done. It is not the loudest scent I own, but the balance suits it well. I wanted to like it more than I did.
