   I picked up Eau d’Ikar (2011) mostly on a whim, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. The first minutes are all about Bergamot with a hint of Carrot Seeds — it grabs attention without being pushy. The opening is built around Bergamot and Carrot Seeds — bright and immediately recognizable. Longevity is moderate and the trail is noticeable without being loud. A solid addition for anyone who enjoys this style.

   I’ve been wearing Eau d’Ikar on and off for a few weeks now (2011). The drydown leans on Vetiver plus Sandalwood and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. Right away I get mostly Bergamot alongside Carrot Seeds, fresh and very easy to wear. In cooler weather it sits closer to the skin, which I actually prefer here. A solid addition for anyone who enjoys this style.

   I have owned Eau d’Ikar for a while now and my opinion has only gotten stronger. The very first sniff is crisp Bergamot with Carrot Seeds peeking through, very much my kind of start. The drydown leans on Vetiver plus Sandalwood and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. In cooler weather it sits closer to the skin, which I actually prefer here. A very likeable composition that is easy to appreciate.

   Everyone keeps talking about Eau d’Ikar, so I finally gave it a proper test. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Mastic or Lentisque with Iris, which is where the fragrance really shines. The very first sniff is crisp Bergamot with Carrot Seeds peeking through, very much my kind of start. Three sprays last me most of the day without ever becoming cloying. The composition is well made but not for me.

   A couple of wears in, Eau d’Ikar has really grown on me. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Mastic or Lentisque with Iris, which is where the fragrance really shines. That first spray gives a lovely Bergamot/Carrot Seeds impression that dries down smoothly. It wears beautifully in the office; I can still catch it on my scarf at the end of the day. Full-bottle worthy without a doubt.

Pleasant, though I would not call it essential.

   I needed a full wearing before I made my mind up about Eau d’Ikar. As it settles, Vetiver and Sandalwood come through and give it real depth. The base rests on Vetiver and Sandalwood — warm, grounded and easy to live with. It performs better in warmer weather — in the heat it opens up nicely. Full-bottle worthy without a doubt.
