   Everyone keeps talking about Vanille, so I finally gave it a proper test. The first minutes are all about Clove with a hint of Rum — it grabs attention without being pushy. Give it a little time and Guaiac Wood with Sandalwood comes forward — smooth and well done. It is not the loudest scent I own, but the balance suits it well. I can see this getting a lot of wear in my collection.

   Everyone keeps talking about Vanille, so I finally gave it a proper test. The first minutes are all about Clove with a hint of Rum — it grabs attention without being pushy. That first spray gives a lovely Clove/Rum impression that dries down smoothly. It wears beautifully in the office; I can still catch it on my scarf at the end of the day. Full-bottle worthy without a doubt.

   Mona di Orio knows how to compose, and Vanille (2011) is proof. The opening is built around Clove and Rum — bright and immediately recognizable. The very first sniff is crisp Clove with Rum peeking through, very much my kind of start. Longevity is moderate and the trail is noticeable without being loud. This one gets my highest praise — beautiful from start to finish.

   I keep reaching for Vanille more than I expected to. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Guaiac Wood with Sandalwood, which is where the fragrance really shines. That first spray gives a lovely Clove/Rum impression that dries down smoothly. Three sprays last me most of the day without ever becoming cloying. Sadly this one does not work on my skin.

The drydown leans on Madagascar Vanilla plus Amber and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. I get about four to six hours before it turns into a skin scent. This has earned a permanent spot in my rotation.

That first spray gives a lovely Clove/Rum impression that dries down smoothly. In cooler weather it sits closer to the skin, which I actually prefer here. A very likeable composition that is easy to appreciate.

   A decant of Vanille sat in my box for weeks before I finally wore it. Right away I get mostly Clove alongside Rum, fresh and very easy to wear. As it settles, Madagascar Vanilla and Amber come through and give it real depth. The drydown lingers pleasantly, and I do not need to reapply at lunch. Easily one of my favourite finds this season.

    A couple of wears in, Vanille has really grown on me. The base rests on Madagascar Vanilla and Amber — warm, grounded and easy to live with. As it settles, Madagascar Vanilla and Amber come through and give it real depth. On my skin the performance is reliable, not a beast but far from weak. This one gets my highest praise — beautiful from start to finish.
