   I keep reaching for Kaiak more than I expected to. The heart is the best part for me: Jasmine and Lily-of-the-Valley feel carefully balanced. The opening is built around Bitter Orange and Bergamot — bright and immediately recognizable. I get about four to six hours before it turns into a skin scent. I can see its quality, but it simply is not my style.

   For a 2003 release, Kaiak deserves more attention than it gets. Right away I get mostly Bitter Orange alongside Bergamot, fresh and very easy to wear. That first spray gives a lovely Bitter Orange/Bergamot impression that dries down smoothly. I get about four to six hours before it turns into a skin scent. Well done — recommended if the notes appeal to you.

   A friend passed me a decant of Kaiak (2003) and I wasn’t prepared for it. The drydown leans on Musk plus Virginia Cedar and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. As it settles, Musk and Virginia Cedar come through and give it real depth. It wears beautifully in the office; I can still catch it on my scarf at the end of the day. Sadly this one does not work on my skin.

The base rests on Musk and Virginia Cedar — warm, grounded and easy to live with. Two sprays are enough — it carries well without shouting. I would happily buy a full bottle.

Right away I get mostly Bitter Orange alongside Bergamot, fresh and very easy to wear. It wears beautifully in the office; I can still catch it on my scarf at the end of the day. A solid addition for anyone who enjoys this style.
