   Everyone keeps talking about Champaca, so I finally gave it a proper test. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Champaca with Freesia, which is where the fragrance really shines. The heart is the best part for me: Champaca and Freesia feel carefully balanced. The drydown lingers pleasantly, and I do not need to reapply at lunch. This has earned a permanent spot in my rotation.

   A friend passed me a decant of Champaca (2002) and I wasn’t prepared for it. As it settles, Green Tea and Musk come through and give it real depth. Give it a little time and Champaca with Freesia comes forward — smooth and well done. Longevity is moderate and the trail is noticeable without being loud. I can see its quality, but it simply is not my style.

Give it a little time and Champaca with Freesia comes forward — smooth and well done. Projection stays close for the first hour, then becomes a soft, pleasant aura. I enjoy it when I wear it, yet I rarely think of reaching for it.

   My first Ormonde Jayne experience was this one, Champaca (2002). The heart is the best part for me: Champaca and Freesia feel carefully balanced. That first spray gives a lovely Bamboo/Neroli impression that dries down smoothly. On my skin the performance is reliable, not a beast but far from weak. I enjoy it when I wear it, yet I rarely think of reaching for it.

   I’ve been wearing Champaca on and off for a few weeks now (2002). The very first sniff is crisp Bamboo with Neroli peeking through, very much my kind of start. The drydown leans on Green Tea plus Musk and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. In cooler weather it sits closer to the skin, which I actually prefer here. A very likeable composition that is easy to appreciate.

   A couple of wears in, Champaca has really grown on me. The first minutes are all about Bamboo with a hint of Neroli — it grabs attention without being pushy. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Champaca with Freesia, which is where the fragrance really shines. It projects politely for a couple of hours, then stays close and cosy. Worth sampling before committing to a bottle.

   I picked up Champaca (2002) mostly on a whim, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. That first spray gives a lovely Bamboo/Neroli impression that dries down smoothly. The first minutes are all about Bamboo with a hint of Neroli — it grabs attention without being pushy. It lasts through a full workday on me, which is exactly what I want. A solid addition for anyone who enjoys this style.
