   A friend passed me a decant of Tsarina (2012) and I wasn’t prepared for it. The opening is built around Coriander and Bergamot — bright and immediately recognizable. That first spray gives a lovely Coriander/Bergamot impression that dries down smoothly. It performs better in warmer weather — in the heat it opens up nicely. A very likeable composition that is easy to appreciate.

   For a 2012 release, Tsarina deserves more attention than it gets. That first spray gives a lovely Coriander/Bergamot impression that dries down smoothly. Right away I get mostly Coriander alongside Bergamot, fresh and very easy to wear. Two sprays are enough — it carries well without shouting. This has earned a permanent spot in my rotation.

   A decant of Tsarina sat in my box for weeks before I finally wore it. The heart is the best part for me: Suede and Iris feel carefully balanced. Right away I get mostly Coriander alongside Bergamot, fresh and very easy to wear. It is not the loudest scent I own, but the balance suits it well. I enjoy it when I wear it, yet I rarely think of reaching for it.

   I have owned Tsarina for a while now and my opinion has only gotten stronger. The heart is the best part for me: Suede and Iris feel carefully balanced. Give it a little time and Suede with Iris comes forward — smooth and well done. The trail is there if someone steps close, not across the room. I reach for it often and always enjoy the wear.

   Everyone keeps talking about Tsarina, so I finally gave it a proper test. As it settles, Vanilla Bean and Musk come through and give it real depth. The drydown leans on Vanilla Bean plus Musk and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. Two sprays are enough — it carries well without shouting. I wanted to like it more than I did.

The base rests on Vanilla Bean and Musk — warm, grounded and easy to live with. It is not the loudest scent I own, but the balance suits it well. Full-bottle worthy without a doubt.
