   A decant of Brutus sat in my box for weeks before I finally wore it. That first spray gives a lovely Bergamot/Mandarin Orange impression that dries down smoothly. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Lavender with Geranium, which is where the fragrance really shines. Two sprays are enough — it carries well without shouting. I enjoy it when I wear it, yet I rarely think of reaching for it.

   A friend passed me a decant of Brutus (2014) and I wasn’t prepared for it. As it settles, Patchouli and Cedar come through and give it real depth. The drydown leans on Patchouli plus Cedar and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. On my skin the performance is reliable, not a beast but far from weak. Well done — recommended if the notes appeal to you.

   I have owned Brutus for a while now and my opinion has only gotten stronger. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Lavender with Geranium, which is where the fragrance really shines. The heart is the best part for me: Lavender and Geranium feel carefully balanced. On my skin the performance is reliable, not a beast but far from weak. I can see this getting a lot of wear in my collection.

The drydown leans on Patchouli plus Cedar and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. I get about four to six hours before it turns into a skin scent. Sadly this one does not work on my skin.
