   I needed a full wearing before I made my mind up about Amazing Grace. That first spray gives a lovely Bergamot/Grapefruit impression that dries down smoothly. The drydown leans on Musk and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. Three sprays last me most of the day without ever becoming cloying. The composition is well made but not for me.

   My first Philosophy experience was this one, Amazing Grace (1996). The first minutes are all about Bergamot with a hint of Grapefruit — it grabs attention without being pushy. As it settles, Musk come through and give it real depth. The drydown lingers pleasantly, and I do not need to reapply at lunch. I can see this getting a lot of wear in my collection.

   A couple of wears in, Amazing Grace has really grown on me. Right away I get mostly Bergamot alongside Grapefruit, fresh and very easy to wear. The first minutes are all about Bergamot with a hint of Grapefruit — it grabs attention without being pushy. It is not the loudest scent I own, but the balance suits it well. A solid addition for anyone who enjoys this style.

   A decant of Amazing Grace sat in my box for weeks before I finally wore it. The first minutes are all about Bergamot with a hint of Grapefruit — it grabs attention without being pushy. The very first sniff is crisp Bergamot with Grapefruit peeking through, very much my kind of start. It projects politely for a couple of hours, then stays close and cosy. I reach for it often and always enjoy the wear.

After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Freesia with Jasmine, which is where the fragrance really shines. On my skin the performance is reliable, not a beast but far from weak. It is fine, but it does not stand out in my collection.

The base rests on Musk — warm, grounded and easy to live with. I get about four to six hours before it turns into a skin scent. A very likeable composition that is easy to appreciate.
