   Everyone keeps talking about Luna Rossa, so I finally gave it a proper test. The base rests on Ambrette (Musk Mallow) and Ambroxan — warm, grounded and easy to live with. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Mint with Clary Sage, which is where the fragrance really shines. Longevity is moderate and the trail is noticeable without being loud. A solid addition for anyone who enjoys this style.

   A friend passed me a decant of Luna Rossa (2012) and I wasn’t prepared for it. Right away I get mostly Lavender alongside Bitter Orange, fresh and very easy to wear. The drydown leans on Ambrette (Musk Mallow) plus Ambroxan and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. It lasts through a full workday on me, which is exactly what I want. I would happily buy a full bottle.

   A decant of Luna Rossa sat in my box for weeks before I finally wore it. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Mint with Clary Sage, which is where the fragrance really shines. As it settles, Ambrette (Musk Mallow) and Ambroxan come through and give it real depth. Three sprays last me most of the day without ever becoming cloying. Well done — recommended if the notes appeal to you.

   A friend passed me a decant of Luna Rossa (2012) and I wasn’t prepared for it. The first minutes are all about Lavender with a hint of Bitter Orange — it grabs attention without being pushy. Give it a little time and Mint with Clary Sage comes forward — smooth and well done. It wears beautifully in the office; I can still catch it on my scarf at the end of the day. Sadly this one does not work on my skin.

Pleasant, though I would not call it essential.
