   I needed a full wearing before I made my mind up about Mystere. Right away I get mostly Galbanum alongside Coriander, fresh and very easy to wear. That first spray gives a lovely Galbanum/Coriander impression that dries down smoothly. It performs better in warmer weather — in the heat it opens up nicely. Full-bottle worthy without a doubt.

   I picked up Mystere (1978) mostly on a whim, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. The drydown leans on Oakmoss plus Civet and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. The first minutes are all about Galbanum with a hint of Coriander — it grabs attention without being pushy. I get about four to six hours before it turns into a skin scent. I can see this getting a lot of wear in my collection.

   Rochas knows how to compose, and Mystere (1978) is proof. Right away I get mostly Galbanum alongside Coriander, fresh and very easy to wear. Give it a little time and Carnation with Rosemary comes forward — smooth and well done. Two sprays are enough — it carries well without shouting. It is fine, but it does not stand out in my collection.

The first minutes are all about Galbanum with a hint of Coriander — it grabs attention without being pushy. The drydown lingers pleasantly, and I do not need to reapply at lunch. This one gets my highest praise — beautiful from start to finish.

As it settles, Oakmoss and Civet come through and give it real depth. Projection stays close for the first hour, then becomes a soft, pleasant aura. I can see its quality, but it simply is not my style.

Well done — recommended if the notes appeal to you.

   I have owned Mystere for a while now and my opinion has only gotten stronger. The opening is built around Galbanum and Coriander — bright and immediately recognizable. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Carnation with Rosemary, which is where the fragrance really shines. It wears beautifully in the office; I can still catch it on my scarf at the end of the day. Full-bottle worthy without a doubt.
