   My first Rochas experience was this one, Rochas Man (1999). After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Cappuccino with Raspberry, which is where the fragrance really shines. That first spray gives a lovely Lavender/Bergamot impression that dries down smoothly. The trail is there if someone steps close, not across the room. It is fine, but it does not stand out in my collection.

   My first Rochas experience was this one, Rochas Man (1999). The heart is the best part for me: Cappuccino and Raspberry feel carefully balanced. The opening is built around Lavender and Bergamot — bright and immediately recognizable. It lasts through a full workday on me, which is exactly what I want. A very likeable composition that is easy to appreciate.

   A friend passed me a decant of Rochas Man (1999) and I wasn’t prepared for it. The drydown leans on Vanille plus Amber and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. Give it a little time and Cappuccino with Raspberry comes forward — smooth and well done. I get about four to six hours before it turns into a skin scent. I can see its quality, but it simply is not my style.

   Rochas knows how to compose, and Rochas Man (1999) is proof. That first spray gives a lovely Lavender/Bergamot impression that dries down smoothly. Right away I get mostly Lavender alongside Bergamot, fresh and very easy to wear. On my skin the performance is reliable, not a beast but far from weak. Easily one of my favourite finds this season.

The base rests on Vanille and Amber — warm, grounded and easy to live with. Performance is consistent: comfortable sillage and several hours of wear on my skin. I would happily buy a full bottle.

A solid addition for anyone who enjoys this style.

    A couple of wears in, Rochas Man has really grown on me. As it settles, Vanille and Amber come through and give it real depth. The drydown leans on Vanille plus Amber and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. It performs better in warmer weather — in the heat it opens up nicely. Sadly this one does not work on my skin.
