   For a 2020 release, Black Orchid Parfum deserves more attention than it gets. The very first sniff is crisp Truffle with Plum peeking through, very much my kind of start. Right away I get mostly Truffle alongside Plum, fresh and very easy to wear. On my skin the performance is reliable, not a beast but far from weak. A very likeable composition that is easy to appreciate.

   Tom Ford knows how to compose, and Black Orchid Parfum (2020) is proof. The first minutes are all about Truffle with a hint of Plum — it grabs attention without being pushy. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Rum with Ylang-Ylang, which is where the fragrance really shines. I get about four to six hours before it turns into a skin scent. I reach for it often and always enjoy the wear.

   A decant of Black Orchid Parfum sat in my box for weeks before I finally wore it. The very first sniff is crisp Truffle with Plum peeking through, very much my kind of start. The first minutes are all about Truffle with a hint of Plum — it grabs attention without being pushy. It performs better in warmer weather — in the heat it opens up nicely. The composition is well made but not for me.

   Everyone keeps talking about Black Orchid Parfum, so I finally gave it a proper test. Give it a little time and Rum with Ylang-Ylang comes forward — smooth and well done. That first spray gives a lovely Truffle/Plum impression that dries down smoothly. Projection stays close for the first hour, then becomes a soft, pleasant aura. A very likeable composition that is easy to appreciate.

   A couple of wears in, Black Orchid Parfum has really grown on me. As it settles, Patchouli come through and give it real depth. Right away I get mostly Truffle alongside Plum, fresh and very easy to wear. It projects politely for a couple of hours, then stays close and cosy. The composition is well made but not for me.
