   A friend passed me a decant of Rose Rouge (2018) and I wasn’t prepared for it. The base rests on Vanilla and Cacao Pod — warm, grounded and easy to live with. As it settles, Vanilla and Cacao Pod come through and give it real depth. It is not the loudest scent I own, but the balance suits it well. This has earned a permanent spot in my rotation.

   A decant of Rose Rouge sat in my box for weeks before I finally wore it. That first spray gives a lovely Black Currant/Pink Pepper impression that dries down smoothly. The heart is the best part for me: Rose and Raspberry feel carefully balanced. Three sprays last me most of the day without ever becoming cloying. Worth sampling before committing to a bottle.

   For a 2018 release, Rose Rouge deserves more attention than it gets. Give it a little time and Rose with Raspberry comes forward — smooth and well done. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Rose with Raspberry, which is where the fragrance really shines. Projection stays close for the first hour, then becomes a soft, pleasant aura. I wanted to like it more than I did.

   I’ve been wearing Rose Rouge on and off for a few weeks now (2018). Right away I get mostly Black Currant alongside Pink Pepper, fresh and very easy to wear. The first minutes are all about Black Currant with a hint of Pink Pepper — it grabs attention without being pushy. I get about four to six hours before it turns into a skin scent. Sadly this one does not work on my skin.
