   A couple of wears in, Antidote has really grown on me. The heart is the best part for me: Lavender and Cinnamon feel carefully balanced. Give it a little time and Lavender with Cinnamon comes forward — smooth and well done. On my skin the performance is reliable, not a beast but far from weak. I can see this getting a lot of wear in my collection.

   A friend passed me a decant of Antidote (2006) and I wasn’t prepared for it. The heart is the best part for me: Lavender and Cinnamon feel carefully balanced. Give it a little time and Lavender with Cinnamon comes forward — smooth and well done. It is not the loudest scent I own, but the balance suits it well. I would happily buy a full bottle.

   Viktor & Rolf knows how to compose, and Antidote (2006) is proof. The drydown leans on Incense plus Vanilla and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. As it settles, Incense and Vanilla come through and give it real depth. Longevity is moderate and the trail is noticeable without being loud. This one gets my highest praise — beautiful from start to finish.

   I keep reaching for Antidote more than I expected to. The heart is the best part for me: Lavender and Cinnamon feel carefully balanced. That first spray gives a lovely Guatemalan Cardamom/Mint impression that dries down smoothly. It wears beautifully in the office; I can still catch it on my scarf at the end of the day. I can see its quality, but it simply is not my style.

   A decant of Antidote sat in my box for weeks before I finally wore it. The very first sniff is crisp Guatemalan Cardamom with Mint peeking through, very much my kind of start. That first spray gives a lovely Guatemalan Cardamom/Mint impression that dries down smoothly. On my skin the performance is reliable, not a beast but far from weak. I reach for it often and always enjoy the wear.

The very first sniff is crisp Guatemalan Cardamom with Mint peeking through, very much my kind of start. It projects politely for a couple of hours, then stays close and cosy. I reach for it often and always enjoy the wear.

   I picked up Antidote (2006) mostly on a whim, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Lavender with Cinnamon, which is where the fragrance really shines. The base rests on Incense and Vanilla — warm, grounded and easy to live with. It projects politely for a couple of hours, then stays close and cosy. I wanted to like it more than I did.

Pleasant, though I would not call it essential.
