   I picked up Avant Garde (2011) mostly on a whim, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. Give it a little time and Beeswax with Lavender comes forward — smooth and well done. The base rests on Tobacco and Benzoin — warm, grounded and easy to live with. Performance is consistent: comfortable sillage and several hours of wear on my skin. I can see this getting a lot of wear in my collection.

   I picked up Avant Garde (2011) mostly on a whim, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. The first minutes are all about Pepper with a hint of Pink Pepper — it grabs attention without being pushy. The drydown leans on Tobacco plus Benzoin and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. In cooler weather it sits closer to the skin, which I actually prefer here. I wanted to like it more than I did.

   I keep reaching for Avant Garde more than I expected to. That first spray gives a lovely Pepper/Pink Pepper impression that dries down smoothly. The first minutes are all about Pepper with a hint of Pink Pepper — it grabs attention without being pushy. I get about four to six hours before it turns into a skin scent. I can see this getting a lot of wear in my collection.

   My first Lanvin experience was this one, Avant Garde (2011). The heart is the best part for me: Beeswax and Lavender feel carefully balanced. That first spray gives a lovely Pepper/Pink Pepper impression that dries down smoothly. In cooler weather it sits closer to the skin, which I actually prefer here. Sadly this one does not work on my skin.

The base rests on Tobacco and Benzoin — warm, grounded and easy to live with. I get about four to six hours before it turns into a skin scent. This one gets my highest praise — beautiful from start to finish.

The drydown leans on Tobacco plus Benzoin and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. The drydown lingers pleasantly, and I do not need to reapply at lunch. A solid addition for anyone who enjoys this style.
