   Lubin knows how to compose, and Idole (2005) is proof. Give it a little time and Ebony with Sugar Cane comes forward — smooth and well done. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Ebony with Sugar Cane, which is where the fragrance really shines. It is not the loudest scent I own, but the balance suits it well. This one gets my highest praise — beautiful from start to finish.

   For a 2005 release, Idole deserves more attention than it gets. The drydown leans on Leather plus Red Sandalwood and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. The opening is built around Rum and Saffron — bright and immediately recognizable. In cooler weather it sits closer to the skin, which I actually prefer here. I can see this getting a lot of wear in my collection.
