Everyone keeps talking about A*Men, so I finally gave it a proper test. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Caramel with Patchouli, which is where the fragrance really shines. Give it a little time and Caramel with Patchouli comes forward β€” smooth and well done. After a few hours it becomes a soft skin scent with a lovely trail. I wanted to like it more than I did.

I picked up A*Men (1996) mostly on a whim, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Caramel with Patchouli, which is where the fragrance really shines. The heart is the best part for me: Caramel and Patchouli feel carefully balanced. On my skin the performance is reliable, not a beast but far from weak. This one gets my highest praise β€” beautiful from start to finish.

Everyone keeps talking about A*Men, so I finally gave it a proper test. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Caramel with Patchouli, which is where the fragrance really shines. The opening is built around Lavender and Mint β€” bright and immediately recognizable. Longevity is moderate and the trail is noticeable without being loud. A solid addition for anyone who enjoys this style.

A couple of wears in, A*Men has really grown on me. The first minutes are all about Lavender with a hint of Mint β€” it grabs attention without being pushy. The heart is the best part for me: Caramel and Patchouli feel carefully balanced. It is not the loudest scent I own, but the balance suits it well. I enjoy it when I wear it, yet I rarely think of reaching for it.

The very first sniff is crisp Lavender with Mint peeking through, very much my kind of start. Two sprays are enough β€” it carries well without shouting. Picked up a sample of A*Men after reading the community buzz (1996). The drydown leans on Coffee plus Patchouli and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. I keep reaching for A*Men more than I expected to. The base rests on Coffee and Patchouli β€” warm, grounded and easy to live with. Right away I get mostly Lavender alongside Mint, fresh and very easy to wear. Three sprays last me most of the day without ever becoming cloying. I reach for it often and always enjoy the wear.

The very first sniff is crisp Lavender with Mint peeking through, very much my kind of start. It performs better in warmer weather β€” in the heat it opens up nicely. Pleasant, though I would not call it essential.

I have owned A*Men for a while now and my opinion has only gotten stronger. That first spray gives a lovely Lavender/Mint impression that dries down smoothly. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Caramel with Patchouli, which is where the fragrance really shines. Longevity is moderate and the trail is noticeable without being loud. I can see this getting a lot of wear in my collection.

For a 1996 release, A*Men deserves more attention than it gets. The first minutes are all about Lavender with a hint of Mint β€” it grabs attention without being pushy. Give it a little time and Caramel with Patchouli comes forward β€” smooth and well done. It projects politely for a couple of hours, then stays close and cosy. My first Mugler experience was this one, A*Men (1996). The drydown leans on Coffee plus Patchouli and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Caramel with Patchouli, which is where the fragrance really shines. The drydown lingers pleasantly, and I do not need to reapply at lunch. Well done β€” recommended if the notes appeal to you.
