   A decant of Rouge sat in my box for weeks before I finally wore it. The very first sniff is crisp Beetroot with Pink Pepper peeking through, very much my kind of start. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Ginger with Mint, which is where the fragrance really shines. On my skin the performance is reliable, not a beast but far from weak. This one gets my highest praise — beautiful from start to finish.

   I needed a full wearing before I made my mind up about Rouge. That first spray gives a lovely Beetroot/Pink Pepper impression that dries down smoothly. Give it a little time and Ginger with Mint comes forward — smooth and well done. Longevity is moderate and the trail is noticeable without being loud. I reach for it often and always enjoy the wear.

   For a 2020 release, Rouge deserves more attention than it gets. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Ginger with Mint, which is where the fragrance really shines. The heart is the best part for me: Ginger and Mint feel carefully balanced. Longevity is moderate and the trail is noticeable without being loud. Easily one of my favourite finds this season.

   My first Comme des Garcons experience was this one, Rouge (2020). The opening is built around Beetroot and Pink Pepper — bright and immediately recognizable. As it settles, Incense and Labdanum come through and give it real depth. It wears beautifully in the office; I can still catch it on my scarf at the end of the day. Well done — recommended if the notes appeal to you.

Right away I get mostly Beetroot alongside Pink Pepper, fresh and very easy to wear. It projects politely for a couple of hours, then stays close and cosy. Well done — recommended if the notes appeal to you.

    A friend passed me a decant of Rouge (2020) and I wasn’t prepared for it. The base rests on Incense and Labdanum — warm, grounded and easy to live with. The first minutes are all about Beetroot with a hint of Pink Pepper — it grabs attention without being pushy. It performs better in warmer weather — in the heat it opens up nicely. This one gets my highest praise — beautiful from start to finish.
