   For a 2008 release, Givenchy Play Intense deserves more attention than it gets. The first minutes are all about Mandarin Orange with a hint of Bergamot — it grabs attention without being pushy. The opening is built around Mandarin Orange and Bergamot — bright and immediately recognizable. Three sprays last me most of the day without ever becoming cloying. I can see this getting a lot of wear in my collection.

   I keep reaching for Givenchy Play Intense more than I expected to. The base rests on Tonka Bean and Patchouli — warm, grounded and easy to live with. As it settles, Tonka Bean and Patchouli come through and give it real depth. Longevity is moderate and the trail is noticeable without being loud. Full-bottle worthy without a doubt.

   A couple of wears in, Givenchy Play Intense has really grown on me. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Coffee with Pink Pepper, which is where the fragrance really shines. The heart is the best part for me: Coffee and Pink Pepper feel carefully balanced. It lasts through a full workday on me, which is exactly what I want. A very likeable composition that is easy to appreciate.

   I have owned Givenchy Play Intense for a while now and my opinion has only gotten stronger. Right away I get mostly Mandarin Orange alongside Bergamot, fresh and very easy to wear. The drydown leans on Tonka Bean plus Patchouli and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. The drydown lingers pleasantly, and I do not need to reapply at lunch. A solid addition for anyone who enjoys this style.
