I have owned Shalimar Millésime Iris for a while now and my opinion has only gotten stronger. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Italian Orris Root, which is where the fragrance really shines. The base rests on Madagascar Vanilla and Caramel — warm, grounded and easy to live with. I get about four to six hours before it turns into a skin scent. I can see this getting a lot of wear in my collection.

Everyone keeps talking about Shalimar Millésime Iris, so I finally gave it a proper test. The heart is the best part for me: Italian Orris Root feel carefully balanced. The opening is built around Bergamot — bright and immediately recognizable. After a few hours it becomes a soft skin scent with a lovely trail. A very likeable composition that is easy to appreciate.

I have owned Shalimar Millésime Iris for a while now and my opinion has only gotten stronger. The drydown leans on Madagascar Vanilla plus Caramel and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. The opening is built around Bergamot — bright and immediately recognizable. It wears beautifully in the office; I can still catch it on my scarf at the end of the day. Easily one of my favourite finds this season.

A friend passed me a decant of Shalimar Millésime Iris (2023) and I wasn’t prepared for it. The very first sniff is crisp Bergamot, very much my kind of start. The drydown leans on Madagascar Vanilla plus Caramel and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. After a few hours it becomes a soft skin scent with a lovely trail. I reach for it often and always enjoy the wear.

My first Guerlain experience was this one, Shalimar Millésime Iris (2023). Give it a little time and Italian Orris Root comes forward — smooth and well done. I can see its quality, but it simply is not my style.

My first Guerlain experience was this one, Shalimar Millésime Iris (2023). As it settles, Madagascar Vanilla and Caramel come through and give it real depth. The drydown leans on Madagascar Vanilla plus Caramel and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. In cooler weather it sits closer to the skin, which I actually prefer here. The composition is well made but not for me.
