   I picked up Gaiac (2005) mostly on a whim, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. The heart is the best part for me: Cloves and Jasmine feel carefully balanced. The very first sniff is crisp Bergamot, very much my kind of start. Longevity is moderate and the trail is noticeable without being loud. I would happily buy a full bottle.

   A decant of Gaiac sat in my box for weeks before I finally wore it. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Cloves with Jasmine, which is where the fragrance really shines. The heart is the best part for me: Cloves and Jasmine feel carefully balanced. The trail is there if someone steps close, not across the room. I wanted to like it more than I did.

   My first M. Micallef experience was this one, Gaiac (2005). The opening is built around Bergamot — bright and immediately recognizable. The first minutes are all about Bergamot — it grabs attention without being pushy. Three sprays last me most of the day without ever becoming cloying. This one gets my highest praise — beautiful from start to finish.

   M. Micallef knows how to compose, and Gaiac (2005) is proof. The opening is built around Bergamot — bright and immediately recognizable. The base rests on Guaiac Wood and Vanilla — warm, grounded and easy to live with. Performance is consistent: comfortable sillage and several hours of wear on my skin. Sadly this one does not work on my skin.

   Everyone keeps talking about Gaiac, so I finally gave it a proper test. As it settles, Guaiac Wood and Vanilla come through and give it real depth. The drydown leans on Guaiac Wood plus Vanilla and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. Two sprays are enough — it carries well without shouting. A very likeable composition that is easy to appreciate.

   I picked up Gaiac (2005) mostly on a whim, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. That first spray gives a lovely Bergamot impression that dries down smoothly. Right away I get mostly Bergamot, fresh and very easy to wear. It lasts through a full workday on me, which is exactly what I want. Well done — recommended if the notes appeal to you.
