   I needed a full wearing before I made my mind up about Chambre Noire. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Plum with Incense, which is where the fragrance really shines. The first minutes are all about Pink Pepper — it grabs attention without being pushy. On my skin the performance is reliable, not a beast but far from weak. Full-bottle worthy without a doubt.

The heart is the best part for me: Plum and Incense feel carefully balanced. After a few hours it becomes a soft skin scent with a lovely trail. This one gets my highest praise — beautiful from start to finish.

   Everyone keeps talking about Chambre Noire, so I finally gave it a proper test. The opening is built around Pink Pepper — bright and immediately recognizable. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Plum with Incense, which is where the fragrance really shines. It wears beautifully in the office; I can still catch it on my scarf at the end of the day. Well done — recommended if the notes appeal to you.

The heart is the best part for me: Plum and Incense feel carefully balanced. On my skin the performance is reliable, not a beast but far from weak. Sadly this one does not work on my skin.

The drydown leans on Leather plus Sandalwood and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. It projects politely for a couple of hours, then stays close and cosy. Pleasant, though I would not call it essential.

The drydown leans on Leather plus Sandalwood and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. It projects politely for a couple of hours, then stays close and cosy. This has earned a permanent spot in my rotation.

   For a 2011 release, Chambre Noire deserves more attention than it gets. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Plum with Incense, which is where the fragrance really shines. As it settles, Leather and Sandalwood come through and give it real depth. Longevity is moderate and the trail is noticeable without being loud. It is fine, but it does not stand out in my collection.

   My first Olfactive Studio experience was this one, Chambre Noire (2011). The heart is the best part for me: Plum and Incense feel carefully balanced. That first spray gives a lovely Pink Pepper impression that dries down smoothly. It performs better in warmer weather — in the heat it opens up nicely. I can see its quality, but it simply is not my style.
