   Tom Ford knows how to compose, and Vert des Bois (2016) is proof. That first spray gives a lovely Poplar (Populus) buds/Olive Tree impression that dries down smoothly. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Mastic or Lentisque with Jasmine, which is where the fragrance really shines. Performance is consistent: comfortable sillage and several hours of wear on my skin. I would happily buy a full bottle.

   A friend passed me a decant of Vert des Bois (2016) and I wasn’t prepared for it. Right away I get mostly Poplar (Populus) buds alongside Olive Tree, fresh and very easy to wear. The opening is built around Poplar (Populus) buds and Olive Tree — bright and immediately recognizable. Performance is consistent: comfortable sillage and several hours of wear on my skin. Worth sampling before committing to a bottle.

After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Mastic or Lentisque with Jasmine, which is where the fragrance really shines. The base rests on Patchouli and Woody Notes — warm, grounded and easy to live with. It lasts through a full workday on me, which is exactly what I want. I wanted to like it more than I did.

The first minutes are all about Poplar (Populus) buds with a hint of Olive Tree — it grabs attention without being pushy. Three sprays last me most of the day without ever becoming cloying. Easily one of my favourite finds this season.
