Everyone keeps talking about Jour d’Hermes Absolu, so I finally gave it a proper test. The drydown leans on Woody Notes plus Oakmoss and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. The first minutes are all about Grapefruit with a hint of Apricot Blossom — it grabs attention without being pushy. It wears beautifully in the office; I can still catch it on my scarf at the end of the day. A solid addition for anyone who enjoys this style.

I keep reaching for Jour d’Hermes Absolu more than I expected to. The heart is the best part for me: Gardenia and Floral Notes feel carefully balanced. Give it a little time and Gardenia with Floral Notes comes forward — smooth and well done. After a few hours it becomes a soft skin scent with a lovely trail. Easily one of my favourite finds this season.

A couple of wears in, Jour d’Hermes Absolu has really grown on me. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Gardenia with Floral Notes, which is where the fragrance really shines. That first spray gives a lovely Grapefruit/Apricot Blossom impression that dries down smoothly. It lasts through a full workday on me, which is exactly what I want. I can see its quality, but it simply is not my style.

I keep reaching for Jour d’Hermes Absolu more than I expected to. After about twenty minutes the heart settles into Gardenia with Floral Notes, which is where the fragrance really shines. The heart is the best part for me: Gardenia and Floral Notes feel carefully balanced. In cooler weather it sits closer to the skin, which I actually prefer here. This one gets my highest praise — beautiful from start to finish.

For a 2014 release, Jour d’Hermes Absolu deserves more attention than it gets. The very first sniff is crisp Grapefruit with Apricot Blossom peeking through, very much my kind of start. As it settles, Woody Notes and Oakmoss come through and give it real depth. The drydown lingers pleasantly, and I do not need to reapply at lunch. This one gets my highest praise — beautiful from start to finish.

I needed a full wearing before I made my mind up about Jour d’Hermes Absolu. The base rests on Woody Notes and Oakmoss — warm, grounded and easy to live with. That first spray gives a lovely Grapefruit/Apricot Blossom impression that dries down smoothly. It lasts through a full workday on me, which is exactly what I want. I enjoy it when I wear it, yet I rarely think of reaching for it.

A friend passed me a decant of Jour d’Hermes Absolu (2014) and I wasn’t prepared for it. The first minutes are all about Grapefruit with a hint of Apricot Blossom — it grabs attention without being pushy. That first spray gives a lovely Grapefruit/Apricot Blossom impression that dries down smoothly. Performance is consistent: comfortable sillage and several hours of wear on my skin. I can see this getting a lot of wear in my collection.

I needed a full wearing before I made my mind up about Jour d’Hermes Absolu. The opening is built around Grapefruit and Apricot Blossom — bright and immediately recognizable. That first spray gives a lovely Grapefruit/Apricot Blossom impression that dries down smoothly. The trail is there if someone steps close, not across the room. A very likeable composition that is easy to appreciate.

I’ve been wearing Jour d’Hermes Absolu on and off for a few weeks now (2014). The drydown leans on Woody Notes plus Oakmoss and that is exactly where it feels most comfortable. Right away I get mostly Grapefruit alongside Apricot Blossom, fresh and very easy to wear. It performs better in warmer weather — in the heat it opens up nicely. I reach for it often and always enjoy the wear.
